Benchmark President Luc Villeneuve honoured with prestigious award
On Sept. 26 our president Luc Villeneuve received the Alumni Award of Distinction for Business from his Alma mater Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology in Ottawa. Every year they honour a graduate who has exhibited significant leadership and effected change in the world of business. Luc said his three-year degree in business administration provided the baseline to accomplish such great things – and give his family a life beyond his wildest dreams. The judges congratulated him for leading dramatic change over the past 30 years. Gender Diversity is a critical social and economic issue and the judges were impressed by Luc’s advocacy work in increasing the number of qualified women on the teams he’s led. In his acceptance speech, Luc stressed how he has enjoyed helping other people along the way and making sure those on his past teams, like our Managing Director Kam Sabouri, were supported and recognized for their hard work. Says Luc: “It was a tremendous night celebrating with the most important people in my life who inspire me — including my daughter Stefania Villeneuve (pictured with him above) and Yves Laviolette, the man who has mentored me since I was a child. I’m so grateful for the constant support of fantastic mentors, coaches, friends, customers and colleagues at companies like Benchmark Corp. Algonquin College has also nominated Luc for a 2019 Premier’s Award which recognizes the tremendous contribution college graduates make to the success of the province. Winners will be announced at a gala celebration on December 2 in Toronto.
